The key fob is the credential behind every AegisSync access interaction. Key-shaped by design, it fits a key ring, engages a physical key hole, and operates through a mechanical interaction rather than a passive proximity read.
The Key-Shaped Fob Design
The AegisSync fob is key-shaped by design to deliver an access experience that requires no explanation. It fits on a standard key ring and slides into the exterior key hole of the lock like a traditional key.
Insert and Turn
On the I-Sync and D-Sync locks, the fob engages the exterior key hole and requires a physical turn to retract the deadbolt. The operation is mechanically identical to a traditional key, insert, turn, and open the door.
Insert to Access
On common area, amenity, and egress locks, the fob is inserted into the reader to present credentials and releases the lock electronically. The same key-shaped form factor, and physically insterting the key, without the mechanical turn.
Key Retaining Reader
The reader releases the fob when the lock is back to its neutral position. This design ensures that residents never leaves the door unsecured.

Do residents need to learn anything new to use these locks?
The key-shaped fob works the same way a key does. Residents insert and rotate it to unlock. There is no app to download, no PIN to remember, and no card to wave at a reader. Most residents will likely not notice much of a difference.
You revoke the lost fob through AegisSecure or at the lock and issue a new one. The process takes minutes and does not require a locksmith or a service call.
What do I do if a lock stops working?
Contact your AegisSync distributor to order a replacement unit. It will install in the same door opening without modifications. You will not need to schedule a construction crew or order custom parts.
What happens during a building power outage?
All AegisSync locks are battery-powered, so they continue operating even if the building loses power. Each lock also includes a mechanical key override for emergency access, ensuring continuous building access for residents, staff, and emergency personnel under real-world conditions.
